Digital Scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking has become a dynamic and exhilarating art form, the possibilities to create are literally endless.   Inspiration for scrapbook pages can come from anywhere.  Sometimes it’s the pictures of my family or the place where we took them, like Disneyland.  Another source is in galleries displaying the work of others;  I might see a page someone else made and get excited about a project of my own.  Often times inspiration comes when I am searching for a scrapbooking kit for another project and I find a kit that illuminates a new idea.  But when I introduced my scrapbooking mentor to Amigurumi she was just as inspired as I was.  In our enthusiasm, we created the following pages:

The following are examples of digital scrapbooking kits by other artists. You can see that they are themed and have different kinds of elements: papers, alphabets, buttons, frames, ribbons, flowers, animals, people, places, buildings and on and on:

The process of digital scrapbooking begins with computer software that can be used to manipulate all the elements that go into creating a page.  Usually, as I mentioned above, it starts with a picture or group of similar pictures.  Then, I add elements from one or more scrapbooking kits to highlight those pictures.  Here is are some examples of how I will use pictures of Amugurumi to make them into elements that can be used by digital scrapbookers:

Elements come in all shapes, sizes, colors and themes.  Each element can be manipulated in many different ways. Using graphics software scrappers can change the size, texture, outline, color, make it thinner, wider, taller or shorter, in order to make it fit into the page.  Here is a perfect example of this.  This is a page I created with pictures from one of my family’s trips to Disneyland:

I wanted to replace this element, with this Amigurumi:

Or this example of this darling little lamb Ami that was standing up:

But he was the wrong color so I re-colored this orange bear to match the colors of this page and put him in.  Isn’t he adorable?

I wanted him to sit on the fence in this page, so I had to manipulate his legs to make him look like he was sitting.  This is the final result, again, I think she looks so cute!
